By federal mandate, to carry the name "Black Hills Gold Jewelry" this style of jewelry must be manufactured in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Q: What is the bail part of a necklace?

A: The bail is the metal piece that the chain loops through.

Q: Does your company make special order custom design jewelry for clients, or do you have access to any companies that do?

A: We are not able to take special order custom designs from customers.  Our manufacturer uses copyrighted design molds for all of their jewelry to help them identify whether a jewelry item was manufactured by them or not.  It makes repairs easier as well.  The only options we have with our manufacturer are: 1) many items that are only offered in gold could be made in sterling silver or visa versa and 2) some items with stones can have stone substitutions made.  We do not have access to any other manufacturers or know of any who can do custom design orders.

Q: Will my jewelry come with something saying that it is authentic?

A: Yes, each piece of jewelry is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from our manufacturer.  All our jewelry is manufactured by Black HIlls Gold Jewelry by Coleman which is located in Rapid City, South Dakota and is the world's largest manufacturer and distributor of Black Hills Gold Jewelry.

Q: Can I order rings smaller than what is listed in your selections?

A: Ladies' rings are available in sizes 4-9 and men's rings are available in sizes 9-12.  Our manufacturer would prefer not to make men's rings any smaller than a size 9.  The reason for this limitation is that they have to produce rings in sizes that they can safely stand behind for their manufacture defect policy as well as for quality assurance.

Q: I am considering the purchase of one of your rings for men and would like to know if you engrave them and if so, what is the cost?

A: All jewelry is shipped directly from our manufacturer to our customers.  Coleman does not offer engraving services at this time, therefore, we are unable to offer engraving on our jewelry items.  The only thing that we can suggest to our customers, who desire this service, is to place their order early enough so that their piece can be engraved by a local jeweler.

Q: Are the inside of the rings smooth and or flat, so that it comes into contact with the skin?

A: Yes, the inside of the 10K shanks are buffed smooth for a comfortable lifetime fit.

Q: Does the grape leaf pattern run, or encircle, the entire band of the ring around the outside?

A: No, the leaf pattern does not encircle the rings design due to wearability. The decorative leaves, grapes and vines would pre-maturely wear when coming in contact with daily tasks.

Q: Copper being used to formulate the rose color-- will this ring eventually turn with age or contact with moisture and stain the skin?

A: Coleman Black Hills Gold will mature with a rich, patina when aging, which adds to it's value and beauty. Any ring can tarnish, but if cleaned periodically it will hold it's sparkle.

Q: What is Emerald Obsidianite? How is it different from a genuine emerald?

A: Emerald Obsidiante is naturally found in volcanic dust. It is fused volcanic glass and can be made into very attractive stones.  Naturally made Emeralds have the familiar rich green look we are all accustomed to.  Emerald Obsidianite, on the other hand, are lab-created stones made from the ash of Mt St. Helens.  They look like perfect Emeralds, without the imperfections we usually see in natural Emerald gems.  Since Emerald Obsidianite is a byproduct of the eruption of Mt St Helens, there are a limited quantity of these stones made.  They are truly beautiful and, because they are lab-created, they are also more affordable.

Q: Are the "diamonds" real genuine diamonds?

A: Yes, the diamonds are genuine, with a rating of SI2 with JK colors.

Q: Does the gold have enough content of gold as to avoid a "brassy" appearance?

A: Yes, plus each item from Coleman comes with a Certificate of Authenticity & Lifetime Guarantee. We guarantee our products against defects in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the product.

Q: Why don't you sell Mother's birthstone jewelry with pearls?

A: Pearls are very soft and fragile.  They have a tendancy of loosing their luster and breaking down over time.  Our Mother's birthstone jewelry is designed to be heirloom pieces.  The birthstones we use will hold up for this purpose.

Q: Can I order jewelry fom your store in white gold?

A: No, our manufacturer only produces jewelry in 10K gold and gold on sterling silver.

Q: Are your bridal sets available in any other stones?

A: No, at this time Coleman does not offer wedding sets with any other stones, except for item # 01A-4907D. However, the idea has been passed along to their Sales and Marketing Specialists for revue. If they decide to go forward with the idea, we will definitely add other stone options to our Birdal Sets page.
